Eliminate thirst in Africa instead of having a 91st Academy Awards ceremony

Instead of spending $44 million for the 2019 Oscars, I would like to propose that for the 91st year, the Academy would consider having a simple low-budget event similar to how Jimmy Kimmel described the first Academy Awards ceremony. The 44 million dollars could then be spent on helping to provide clean drinking water for Africa. There are numerous nonprofit organizations, such as charity:water and The Water Project, that are working to provide relief in this area.
I am asking you to support this proposal by signing this petition. Before we advance with the traditions of our culture, I feel it is important that we acknowledge and assist those who do not even have the basic necessities of life. Thank you for your support in this endeavor.
