For over 23 years now, the DRC has been embroiled in a civil war and became a victim of Rwandese occupation at the heart of the political apparatus. The genocide and continued instability in Eastern Congo has claimed the lives of over 12 million people, with over 4.5 million internally displaced.

Congolese music has undoubtedly been a popular cultural trait, but with women and children being raped as well as having their genital mutilated, not to mention being chased out of their father land by rebels, it is felt that the mood for collective and patriotic celebration of our music is obsolete, unitil the country is truly freed and the rule of law restored.
