We would like to improve the quality of substitutes in Fairfax County schools. If we can change the standers of substitutes to have better quality substitutes in school, students would do better in classes since they are actually being taught the subjects. Teachers won't have to stress about going over a subject that a substitute had to teach last class, instead of having substitutes getting paid to sit there and do nothing. Sometimes, teachers get notes from a substitute that there are some students that aren't doing their assigned work, and being disrespectful to them. At the same time though, they aren't passing out work, and just staring at their phones and tablets watching Netflix and playing games. There are also some substitutes that sub for language classes, but they don't even know how to speak in that language, which allows them to do nothing for that class and get away with it. If we are going to allow substitutes to be substitutes there should be things like a required training coarse that gives them some background in one or more subjects Who are then assigned to classes that suit their knowledge and training courses.
