Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)is the largest and most dangerous investigative arm of the Homeland Security department, created to expand the agencies efforts at removing and preventing the re-entrance of foreign threats into the United States. However, the ICE division has taken that power and created a fearing world for all immigrants in the United States. Now focusing on ALL immigrants (those who have not particularly committed a crime), ICE agents have been documented to physically and sexually assault immigrants, fabricate evidence, split apart families, and detain immigrants in holding facilities too inhumane for any human to have to endure. ICE has become far too cruel and powerful to stay in service. Congress has the authority to defund ICE and develop an organization that is based not only on the prevention of cross-border crime and foreign threats in the United States, but also on human rights, and should build on what we know can help create secure and healthy environments for all people.
