Ohio Division of Natural Resources (DNR). DNR the DNR!
Every year in late Sept., deer hunting season begins. My mission is to stop this. If you are interested in joining in my efforts to change the structure of the Ohio Divison of Wild"Death" to one that is NOT comprised of a board of all hunters; NOT catering to hunters who are only seven percent of our population; NOT profiting by 50% annually off "maximum sustainable yield" or "compensatory rebound effect" of deer populations; and NOT spreading deadly propaganda that killing deer helps "manage" their populations when they know full well that existing, effective birth control methods they refuse perpetuate the issue, then contact me NOW!
Deer-Vehicle Accidents (DVAs); untold suffering of our wildlife (annually, roughly 10% of Ohio whitetails are killed or maimed in DVAs, with the highest numbers FIRST DAY OF HUNTING because injured deer run into traffic); billions of dollars of insurance claims from DVAs, and even the complaints of gardeners -- all these things will be eliminated or reduced if the Division of Wildlife is forced to abolish hunting because HUNTING CAUSES OVERPOPULATION or "compensatory rebound effect." The Ohio DOW admits to this, and calls it "maximum sustainable yield."
Deer were reintroduced in Ohio some 60 years ago as a game species, specifically to cater to hunters. Since then, we've all paid the price, and it must stop now and forever.
The Ohio Division of Natural Resources and Division of Wild"Death" Board of Directors and officers must be replaced in a sweeping fashion with members representing Ohio's diverse constituency -- the other 93 percent that don't hunt, and don't want wildlife to suffer.
Lastly, Ohio DNR/DOW needs broad-based funding, to replace its sorely outdated model of hunter-funded interests -- which curently lines DOWs pockets to the tune of nearly 50 percent annually.
