It should not have taken the toppling of Confederate monuments and statues of Christopher Columbus to awaken us to how intertwined the histories of Indigenous people genocide and Black slavery are in our nation. The message is now loud and clear, and so is one of its mandates: No Columbus Day!*
We therefore call on all U.S. citizens and anyone living in the United States, to sign this petition calling on Congress to abolish Columbus Day as a federal holiday before October 12, 2020.
