Aberystwyth University and UMCA to stop the refurbishment of Pantycelyn

0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!

Pantycelyn is getting up to a £40 million investment to refurbish it back into a Welsh speaker Halls of Residence.

This doesn't make sense and needs to stop. The Welsh speaking halls already in place not filled to capacity - with some blocks totally empty or half filled. The university were complaining about the uncertainty of brexit yet are making pointless investments.

This comes at a time where the University is thinking of cutting staff numbers in key and prestigious departments due to being a debt ridden University.

I ask the University and the Welsh society within the University (Undeb Myfyrwyr Cymraeg Aberystwyth/UMCA) to reconsider. Currently Welsh isn't a free language to learn and the money would be better used to establish that, or to improve existing halls of residence or just to save and cut back on spending.
