School Transportation for Aberdeen Students (In Town)

I recently moved to Aberdeen and have a child who started school this year. It was brought to my attention that the Aberdeen School District does not provide transportation for students in town. The current bus route is only for students who live 5 miles from town, and fee bussing is available for students within 2.5 to 5 miles from the school they are attending. Aberdeen is small, I know this. Coming from a large city I am aware of numbers and possible funding limits. BUT, with that being said, no child should be left behind. Whether you do not own a vehicle, have young children who do not attend school, work earlier than school starts, or cannot afford public transit via shuttle/taxi etc. - this is not something parents should have to worry about. Companies that offer these services already are wonderful, but unfortunately they have waiting lists and cost money. Safety is also a concern of mine. A child should not have to walk if they are more than 5 blocks from the school. It's a hike, and there are many roads that crossing guards are not available to get them safely to their destination. The focus and main point of this petition is to get enough people together to make a change to these limitations and find a way to provide school transportation for the parents like myself who do not have a way for their children to get to school. Thank you for your time, and I hope that we all can make this change for a better school experience and peace of mind for us and our children.
