Gavin Kidd started this petition to Aberdeen City Council and

1/ The new cycle lanes at the beach have no basis in proven need - no group nor organisation has requested these lanes.  They are wholly unsuitable and prevent access to the beach for disabled, families with young children, the elderly and everyone in between.

2/ There has been no consultation with the people of Aberdeen or the business owners at the beach.  Businesses are unlikely to survive these changes given most of their business is from visitors who drive to the beach for lunch/ice cream and a walk.

3/Other sporting and healthy activities such as surfing, swimming, jogging and walking will now be wiped out by these prohibitive barriers.  4/ In particular the elderly or those with disabilities from Aberdeen will now have no access to the beach as there will be limited parking for these groups and they are not, and never will be, able to cycle to the beach.

Our demands - 1/ All bollards and restructuring be removed and a full consultation process be instigated by ACC.

2/ A full appraisal of the need and demand for these changes through research and consultation.

3/ An open discussion with local people on what the beach does need, such as more toilets, places to sit and covered / seated areas for people to enjoy the beach during Spring/Autumn and Winter.
