The pockets of women's jeans are both substantially smaller and significantly less functional than the pockets of men's jeans. The most noticeable size disparity is the front pockets, which cannot hold many of the basic, everyday objects (ex: phone, pen, or hand) men can carry without issue. Often, pockets may even be sewn shut, or only present for appearance. As we approach the 100th anniversary of Women's Suffrage (19th Amendment) in August of 2020, women still face many injustices, including the inability to carry essential items on their person. While this is trivial by comparison to one's right to vote, it is still an issue of inconvenience and inequality. 

The pockets of women's jeans are almost 50% smaller than those of men's jeans, on average. Diehm & Thomas (2018) conducted original research by measuring and comparing the pockets of 20 popular brands, most of whom will receive this petition.
