Woopi Goldberg is not the only person who never knew that practicing Judaism made you a member of a distinct class or race of people.  In America, race has always been defined by color. The red man = Native American persons, the yellow man = Chinese Persons, Black = African American persons.  On job applications there is not a separate designated spot for the  Jewish race, however it does ask if you identify as white, African-american, Asian or Latina, so who else knew and how.  It is certainly not part of any curriculum I have seen.

I believe most people believe as Ms. Goldberg that Judaism is not a separate race.  Now we must rethink that position. However, we are now able to be re-educated and that is because of Ms. Goldberg.  If punishment is to create reform and change, then I believe Ms Goldberg’s sincere apology serves that purpose.  

If she is to be punished, penalized and degraded for lack of knowledge then we should all stand in support of her. As such I will not watch the view for the two weeks during which ABC deems to impose such extreme and punitive measures against Ms. Goldberg. If you agree please sign my petition.
