Triple J: Play the hottest 100 on Australia Day!
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
We, as Australians are blessed to live in this sun-kissed, wide-brown-land of ours. We should stand together to protect our identity, as Australians, from the ridicule of self-hating propaganda.
Yes, we have a dark past, just like every other Nation before us and after us. But that past, however dark it may be, is what formed the Nation that we are today.
Australia day should be celebrated, not as what-was, or what-could-have-been, but what-is; Australia is a Nation of all cultures, and Australia day is a day to bring them all together, as one.
A big part of Australia day, for many Aussies, is listening to Triple J's hottest 100. It doesn't matter if you are playing backyard cricket, having a BBQ at the local park, or living it up on the water; two things are almost certain, one, you've got the day off, and two, there's a FM radio somewhere within ear-shot, blasting the hottest 100. What a perfect backdrop for our favourite day of the year!
The Hottest 100 has a rich history, first Launched in 1989, and having only missed out on one year (1992), it's fair to say it has become in-stilled in Australian culture over those 25-odd years. So much so that 2.24 MILLION Aussies (that's nearly 10% of the whole country!) voted for their favourite top-10 new releases in 2016.
Are you really prepared to sit back and let 5000 signatures on a petition take a free-hit on Australian culture? Sign now and let the ABC know that this is NOT OK!
