The Golden Girls is a beloved pop cultural touchstone beloved by people across the world.

It should be back on TV - an animated show is the perfect way to do it.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to once again spend time with these great characters as originally brought to the screen by Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, Estelle Getty, and the iconic Betty White?

While it may have debuted on TV in the 1980s, The Golden Girls dealt with issues that are still contemporary. This was a story of women who, after raising their respective families, each suffered heartache, betrayal, or the loss of loved ones. They embarked on a new phase of their life while facing challenges associated with financial hardship, changing family dynamics, and the physical impact of getting older.

We loved Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia because they represented ideals we believe in - friendship, inclusion, and family.

Keeping the spirit alive of the original, the girls on the show were always always physically active with dance contests, police stakeouts, and game show appearances. It translates perfectly to animation.

The visual creativity of animation also gives us the opportunity to see brought to the screen Rose's stories of St Olaf, Blanche's not-quite-safe-for-primetime conquests, Sophia's escape from Shady Pines, and all the cartoon cheesecake an animator can imagine.

The Golden Girls may have been a great sitcom. But it can also be a fabulous animated show which would allow these marvelous characters to live again.
