Reverse the court ruling that shut down Locast.org
A recent court ruling against Locast.org has forced them to shut down a valuable service that was providing the only access to broadcast TV for millions of Americans. The court ruled that because Locast requests donations to provide the service without interruptions, they don't qualify as a non-profit. There doesn't seem to be any acknowledgement of the fact that for over a year now they have been providing free uninterrupted service to low-income viewers who request it. This is the only way many people in the US can receive broadcast TV without having to pay for cable or satellite TV because of their rural locations. The FCC requires these networks to provide broadcast service as a condition of receiving a license, but since the transition to digital TV greatly reduced the effective range of broadcast signals, they have been failing this duty to people living outside of major metropolitan areas. This ruling needs to be overturned in order to restore access to free broadcast TV to the people who have just had it taken away from them.
