Words from Nina Funnell: So as some of you may remember, last year ABC Q&A asked Nina Funnell to 'sit in the audience' and ask a question about university sexual assault to a panel of people who had significantly less expertise than her on that subject.
As Clementine Ford correctly pointed out, "I doubt they would ever invite a Walkley award winning MALE journalist to merely sit in the audience and ask a question to a panel of people who had less experience in the given field". Well things have just evolved.
The date for the #MeToo special was changed as was the line-up. It has just now been announced that the ABC has decided to invite Charles Waterstreet to sit on the panel to discuss his thoughts on #MeToo. This is the same Charles Waterstreet who New Matilda and Nina Funnell ran a major investigation into after it was alleged that he showed a masturbation video to a 21 year old law student during a job interview.
Nina has not been approached to sit on the panel. She has only been invited to sit in the audience for this one.
Also appearing on the panel is Rachel Griffiths who defended Geoffrey Rush.
GET NINA ON THAT PANEL ABC!
Women do not need men to explain sexual harassment to us. Charles Waterstreet and other men should sit in the audience and listen as women explain the impact of sexual harassment to them.
Also here are the details:
On Thursday the 15th of February Q&A will be broadcasting a mid-week edition of Q&A live from Southbank, Melbourne.
Hosted by Virginia Trioli the program will be a Q&A special on the #MeToo campaign.
Sparked by the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse scandal in the US, the #MeToo social media campaign, has now made its way to Australia.
Women around the world are calling Times Up! on sexual harassment. In Australia high profile men have been caught in its net.
