ABC: Keep Whoopi Goldberg on The View

ABC: Keep Whoopi Goldberg on The View
Why this petition matters
Whoopi was wrong - and admitted it. She mistakenly made recent comments about the Holocaust — saying that it “wasn’t about race,” but merely a matter of man’s inhumanity to man, involving white people killing white people. And unlike others who continue to maintain a public forum, she apologized.
As anti-racism warrior, Tim Wise points out, her missteps are small when contrasted with the way some of our own elected officials are dealing with actual racism and American Nazis.
Case in point: we continue to have people like Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis who refuses to condemn present-day Nazis - people who hung swastika banners in Orlando - in his own state. Goldberg’s comments may be naive but they certainlypale by comparison. Twice impeached ex-President Donald Trump boldly proclaimed there were “good people on both sides” of protests supported by white supremacists in Charlottesville, VA. He remained in office then still managed to unapologetically spur an insurrection against our country.
Goldberg has long been a target of the far-right. Their ulterior motive is to shut her down with attacks for being outspoken when it comes to fighting against racism and hate. In fact, they have long tried to not only silence Goldberg but also everyone and anything connected to The View, a show that was created by that long standing stalwart of mainstream journalism, Barbara Walters. Don’t let them.
Goldberg has apologized and is making amends. Don’t let her voice be silenced.
