We the undersigned express our sadness with the passing in late December 2022 of local Concord identity Marcus Prentice.

Marcus was highly respected in particular in Concord West where he lived and in Concord where he sold the Big Issue outside Coles on Majors Bay Road.

Marcus had lived in the Canada Bay Council area since February 2008.

He had sold the Big Issue for 25 years.

When Marcus died tributes flowed from our community for a battler who never gave up.

Despite his own challenges Marcus shared joy and a smile with everyone.

We congratulate the community for raising $20,000.00 for a fitting tribute and farewell for Marcus at the Concord Bowling Club and dignified burial.

We now call upon the City of Canada Bay council to organize an appropriate tribute to Marcus preferably outside/adjacent to Coles Concord by naming one of the nearby bench seats in his honour and other agreed/appropriate council and community recognition eg community mural.
