Jack P started this petition to Garda Síochána (General management) and

Since last Friday, June 5th, the Garda and the Irish government have declared a public enemy. Young people with the sole desire to see their friends and enjoy themselves for a while after months of being at home and complying with the rules, and with all the psychological burden that goes with it.

the government gave them hope the previous weeks with the slogan. "outdoor summer" but unfortunately that is turning into a nightmare.

Since weeks many young people have started to gather massively in the center of dublin, with no one and nothing to control social distances, no toilets, no litter garbage cans, no streets with capacity control, no control whatsoever.

This has led more and more young people to imitate the behavior of others and create situations of high concentrations.

Faced with such a situation, the government sent the garda to control last Friday, June 05/06, when everything is already out of control.

Violence is never justified and that certain people react violently when they are prevented from being with their friends, I do not justify it, but neither does it justify the garda closing streets and declaring a police state where the police are deployed as if it were a war, in order to control compliance with the rules.

in all the weeks I have not seen any capacity control, no control of social distance in streets or public transport. now the solution is to close streets and parks. i think it is an example of a radical measure.

Last saturday 05/06. it was a very sad day for me. today I visited city center of dublin. stephen green closed, streets closed. police controlling street by street. I felt pity and fear at the same time. it seemed like a state of war where young people are criminals by definition.

I feel that we young people have been declared enemies of the irish state. to the extent that we have that we already distrust garda.

I hope the government understands that this is a democracy and not a police state that is increasingly losing the democratic values of consensus and understanding.

We cannot live in a police state. that is why I propose that all parties must sit down, talk and learn about the problems of both sides and make a plan to have a safe summer where we can all enjoy ourselves.
