A Simple Tool For CEMS Students' Safety

In the aftermath of the mass murder of students and faculty at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, we learned that students' cell phones were vital in distinguishing a false fire alarm from a very real active shooter.  Cell phones were also the method of the students' fearful final goodbyes to their loved ones. Knowing this, Camp Ernst Middle School is the only Boone County middle school that still refuses to allow students to carry their cell phones with them during the day.  We are told that our safety is the reason we can't keep our phones on us, however, we know that writing instruments and cafeteria cutlery can be dangerous if misused and yet there are no bans on writing or eating utensils.  Please support our petition to Principal Hagerty to reconsider her position and to provide her students with one of the only defenses they may have in a terribly grave emergency.

If you support our effort, please share this petition for others to support us as well.
