Glen Lakes Golf Course has been a city landmark for over 50 years. In 1979 the city purchased the course to save it from development. Since then it has provided accessible and affordable public access to the game of golf for all ages, including local high school teams and senior citizen groups. In addition it has served as a precious green belt for the surrounding neighborhoods which were built prior to green belt planning. Over the years, the course has been left to fall into disrepair. Because of no major investment in capital improvements, the restaurant and club house are in desperate need of updating and revitalizing. The citizens of Glendale, by signing this petition, are asking our elected officials to save Glen Lakes Golf Course and provide the resources necessary for updating and improving this long-time city asset. It is valuable parkland that preserves the quality of local neighborhoods while providing a much needed public source of recreation for our citizens of all ages.
