The will impact race relations for generations to come, as we are ablele to look back several generations with this HUGE collection needing a museum environment. Music is medicine – and this collection can heal so much of the race issues of our city, Tulsa. This treasure is an educational resource right here in our community. We need help.
I believe it’s preservation is important for Tulsa history and the true cultural elements that define our history as it pertains to music, Black American culture and history of the Blues
Kerry Kudlacek has offered access to the most mindboggling Blues collection (big as Smithsonian and recognized by Library of Congress) of black history, music, books, discographies, .....
450 wax cylinders and Thomas Edison player
1200 pieces of collector Blues & Blacks historical sheet music from WWI to 1811. It is unbelievable.
1000 magazines compiled from first edition to present – Blues, R & B, Minstrelsies, …
Numerous posters, a 1935 Gibson – same model as Robert Johnson’s, bricks from foundations of Muddy Waters and Sonny Boy Williamson …. So much more
WE HAVE A CHANCE AT SOMETHING AS GREAT AS ALL OTHER COLLECTIONS COMBINED:
I am a partner in a Blues station – with my finger on the pulse of our Blues etc. music scene and that of Route 66. I know “my stuff”. I am editor of the local Blues’s society’s small Blues News, national judge, etc.
Here is what I truly believe: Tulsa is a music mecca. We could be where people come to visit and spend time with America’s Roots. Since Tulsa is the capital of Route 66 this concept is not far-fetched. A museum and “think-tank studio” environment should be a “destination place” to historians and musicians to find truths. This is such an amazing possible resource where “Music is the Medicine” could really shine and gather momentum.
Musicians have always been the loudest historians of their time. I need help in preserving this historical and cultural opportunity to offer the widest array of information of the times. A true time capsule of America’s roots.
I further need a sponsor to purchase this collection to assure our senior collector (60+ years of researching, writing, collecting) a means to have elder care.
