Abad - started this petition to Government of Pakistan and

I'm here to address a noticeable yet ignored issue of the Digital Services Industry in Pakistan. Please sign this petition after reading this post and spread the word for a positive change.

There's a slight problem with the way we as outsource-managers are offering the price to the freelancers out there. The industry has no standard of rates or any mediator who can determine what to pay or charge; this is leading towards mass exploitation of the freelancers and outsourcing individuals.

If we are ought to solve this problem, then there has to be a set standard of these:
1. Rates
2. Method of Payment
3. Policies of penalties (Which shouldn't involve any pay-cuts)
4. Revisions

Rates:
The standard rate of every project for any content writing gig for an outsourcing individual or freelancer should START from Rs. 2.5/word (Pakistani currency). Less than this shouldn't be charged or paid as the amount of effort put into the project has to be paid fairly.

Method of Payment:
Make deals with freelancers in your own city and meet them in person for a legal contract(stamp). 50% of advance has to be paid before the task and the final amount has to be paid on the submission of the final task or draft!
Remember, if someone refuses to pay you in advance, most likely he has plans to scam you. Don't work without advance payments.

Policies of penalties:
No one gives you the right to penalize the freelancer with charging him a dock. There are companies who suck all your earnings for a slight mistake and mention "Aap ke upar $20 ka jurmana laagu hai."

NO! This should be illegal and you have to take a stand no matter what. That's because you as a freelancer are submitting everything on time with all the set guidelines fulfilled. If in any case, a client wants to penalize a worker, then they can impose a temporary suspension (not giving them work for 3 days or a week).

It can only be imposed if the freelancer or worker wastes your time and doesn't submit the project at all.

Revision policies:
A revision has to be done by a freelancer IF it was his mistake. In any case, if the client sends a revision with additional guidelines, then it has to be charged by the freelancer. this will be called a paid revision and you can set a standard price for it like Rs.500 or the same word count price.

Finally, the justification for putting this post on this wall is to clear everything to every client, freelancer or outsourcing individuals. Our government hasn't done much to secure our payments or establish an organization for online entrepreneurs; hence we as experienced individuals are obliged to do something in order to mediate in the market.

Say no to Exploitation.
