Why this petition matters

Started by Betty Allred

This petition is to a Federal Judge who is the only one who is to decide the sentence of federal defendant Tyler Lee Immel, age 21, who has pled guilty to possession of a machine gun from March 2019.

Tyler does not deny guilt and he wants to accept responsibility for his wrongdoing. Tyler spent 15 months in federal holding before being released to his mother under 3rd party custody and supervised federal probation. He has no prior felony criminal history. Since his release he has completed his group and individual therapies, paid off all fines he had prior to his arrest March 6, 2019, he has remained drug free, he has complied with everything that's been asked by the courts. He has gotten engaged and stepped up as a father to his fiance's 12 year old daughter(whose biological father passed away several years ago).

We know his punishment for his wrongdoing could be from federal supervised probation to 10 years in federal prison but we are asking that Tyler be given credit served for the 15 months he was incarcerated and he be given stipulations or whatever sentence can be given to keep him from being incarcerated again because the purpose of punishment is to reform or rehabilitate and he clearly is reformed and rehabilitated and to take him from his family after being back with us since June 2020 would be to cruel and punishing his family for no reason. His step daughter has already lost one dad, for her to have to lose another dad, wouldn't be fair to her or in her best interest since losing her first dad caused emotional problems to a point she has to have an emotional support animal to help her cope.

Our family was shattered when Tyler and his dad were arrested and when Tyler was released we were able to began to try to pick the peices up to rebuild. To lose him again, would truly cause us far more harm than good, and it could also lead him to believe that becoming a better man only gets you punished because he has worked so hard to become a better man and live a law abiding life. Being in federal custody showed him that isn't the life he wanted and he made the choice freely to change and has seen it through even out on the streets where temptations are all around.

By signing this petition we affirm that Tyler is completely reformed and a complete different person now than he was in 2019. We know he is no type of danger to society and he wants no part of any criminal life. He wants to be a man and accept responsibility for his actions and that also supports the fact he has reformed. His entire family and juvenile step daughter should not be punished by his sentence being to incarcerate him again. We ask he be given a second chance by recieving a least confined sentence possible for his charge, free of incarceration.
