A.J. Stanec was unjustly suspended today, November 3rd. His suspension was given because of a petition he started in school to have less tests and quizzes in a teachers classroom. The First Amendment states that we all have freedom to petition. If it is stated in our basic human rights, why is he being punished for exercising his basic human rights? The teacher was aware the petition was not a true movement and was a joke and responded to A.J.’s petition on his board saying “I, Mr. Seebohm, being of sound mind and somewhat sound body, do here to for reject your petition and all the signatures on it. Godspeed.” I believe that a joke between a player and his coach does not deserve a suspension. The focus of the administration is skewed and needs to be improved for the betterment of the students. We have many more pressing issues to be worrying about than an online petition.
