Since the independence of the Nigerian State, successive leaders have been largely corrupt and ineffective. The reason is that leaders are not philosophers and have not embraced spirituality, therefore lacking the knowledge to transform the country. Spirituality gives an eternal understanding of right and wrong, coupled with the divine wisdom to do what is noble for the citizens at all times. Spirituality gives a leader an exalted sense of service in his assigned roles for the benefit of the citizens. Spirituality makes a leader give rather than take away from the people. When men of high spirituality take over power, they burn out willingly to save the country from disease, ignorance and poverty, thereby causing a tremendous turnaround in human and material resources for a positive economic and social transformation.
