A&E Network: Cancel 'Duck Dynasty' over Robertson Family LGBT hate

Phil Robertson slams the LGBT community; his family supports his statement.

On December 18, 2013 A&E indefinitely suspended Robertson following anti-homosexual comments made by him published in GQ Magazine The network released the following statement: "We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty. His personal views in no way reflect those of A&E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community.” In response to A&E's actions, Robertson released a statement which in which he stated in part, "I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other." He compared, however, that homosexuality was "just as bad" as beastiality, prostitution, a sin, and we are all going to hell. Check out more information with the following link below.

There is much controversy on the subject that he had "freedom of speech" and should not have been suspended. However, this is what the First Amendment protects us from -- laws being made that restrict freedom of religion, the press and/or speech. It does not protect us from how society responds to the expression of one's religion, the press or speech. Robertson's boss punished him for his remarks. The government didn't. Yes, we have freedom of speech, but this was an opinion that BASHED an entire community of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgenders. Discrimination IS considered a crime after all. Little do people know that if someone says a hateful, racist, homophobic, discriminative remark, there will be consequences based upon that action.

As a gay man, I can say I don't care what people like him have to say. I do however feel the show 'Duck Dynasty' should NO LONGER continue. Why? Because by allowing the show go on, with or without Phil, A&E is pretty much saying "it's okay to say such things even if it is pretty judgemental". I cannot deal with such tolerance like that. Help sign this petition if you believe in equal rights for the LGBT community and feel that people that behave in a manner like the Robertson family should not be on television and get away with cruel emotions towards people who are not of their same lifestyle. Thanks everyone and remember, love conquers hate.
