Parents and Taxpayers in the North Salem Central School District want a Dedicated School Resource Officer Assigned to Pequenakonck Elementary School by the Start of the Next School Year!

This petition is being put together to raise awareness and demand that the North Salem Central School District do better when it comes to protecting the children, faculty and staff at its elementary school.

North Salem’s school district currently has ONE School Resource Officer who covers the high school, the middle school AND the elementary school. 

In an emergency, it would likely take more than five-minutes for this ONE officer to get from the High School/Middle School to the Elementary School.

In a situation where seconds count, a delay of this magnitude is unacceptable.  Placing a full time, Westchester County Police Officer in Pequenakonck Elementary School would only cost the district $160,000. per year. This cost is just a fraction of the $44,967,709 school budget for 2022-2023.

The neighboring Somers school district has FOUR School Resource Officers, one assigned to EACH building. There is no reason why a child in Somers should be better protected than a child in North Salem.

North Salem Central School District needs to do more and act faster!  Place a School Resource Officer at PQ by the time our children return to school THIS FALL!
