The maximum maintenance loan available to students from Northern Ireland is a measly £4,480. For a select few students this is barely enough to cover the high costs of rent never mind ‘maintain’ themselves throughout the academic year. In comparison, English students have a maximum amount of £9,706. Not all Northern Irish students decide to stay in NI with over 40% of students moving to England for their studies. With the increase in living costs for all, this petition has been made in order to make it fairer for all Northern Irish students.
