Why this petition matters

Started by Amer Garcia

The population of the stray animals are increasing every year , we should make an hard work to lessen this problem.

I want to say to the community that we should adopt stray animals for them to have a better health and shelter. Killing them is not a solution to lessen them. They have a purpose in our lives. Nothing compares to the joy of coming home to a loyal companion. The unconditional love of a pet can do more than keep you company. Don't abandoned your animals!!

Stray animals can affect the health of the human beings, because of the deceases they have. Spread of diseases such as rabies, leptospirosis, and other parasites.

We must do an action!

Philippine Animal Sanctuary and Rescue unveiled that there are millions of stray pets roaming around the streets in the Philippines mostly homeless and with irresponsible owners. The vast majority of the said animals are either cats or dogs, which is fast increasing due to accidental breeding on streets and unwanted births.

Currently, the population of the dogs in the Philippines is around 11.6 million. They are being protected by the Animal Welfare Act of the Philippines, also known as Republic Act 8485 which is a revised animal welfare bill that was drawn up and diligently pursued by an organization in the senate and in congress.

The inhumane treatment of stray dogs is a common problem which is often associated with improper feeding, lacking of correct hygiene, and unmerciful killing that brings fear to its subject. Hunger, in this view, is a pang one feels when one’s stomach is empty. Fear is an uncomfortable twinge one experiences when one believes that one is in danger. Exacerbating the problems, while profoundly shredding the rule of law in the Philippines.

Stray animals are mainly a human health hazard, because in some circumstances. The spread of diseases such as rabies, leptospirosis, and other parasites. Random attacks may also occur on humans and their livestock if stray dogs on the streets are not lessened.

Many dogs here in the Philippines are being killed because they are treated as nuisance here in our society. An average of 200 dogs are euthanized every month in each city pound. That is why we want to pursue this petition to stop inhumane killing of stray dogs. We will be cooperating with the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) in order to keep them in a shelter or in a safe environment. PAWS is a volunteer based non-government organization whose goal is to prevent animal cruelty through education, animal sheltering and advocacy. Animals also deserve freedoms like us humans. We believe that peaceful society starts with the widening of mankind’s circle of compassion which includes animals, thereby envisions a community that respects animals, practices responsible pet ownership and protects wildlife.

The main goal of our petition is to:

          · Protect and rescue abandoned dogs

          · Provide shelter and other basic necessities for the dogs that will be rescued

          · Prevent animals from loitering from communities

There is a rising consciousness across the country that animals should be protected from cruelty, and we must have strong movements to prevent abuse and crack down on the outliers. Everyone will benefit in this petition. We should stop inhumane killing, be the voice of the voiceless.
