A Call to Action - To Save and Promote a Clean Waterways for Flood-Free Communities

The Issue

Philippines has been experiencing a very alarming number of typhoons we face under only in a span of a week or a month. One of the frequent region and area it hits is Luzon, and its aftermath always is flooding- that causes thousands of lives to be destroyed and killed.

 Waste contributing to flooding

Many research and articles states that one of the major contributors of these flooding are Waste Pollution. Clogging up and Blocking the canal drainages and water pumps system. Thus, Polluted waterways are not just an environmental issue; they are a direct threat to the safety and well-being of our communities. Blocked and contaminated rivers and streams cause severe flooding, leading to property damage, health hazards, and ecological destruction.

In CALABARZON, Cavite as part of its regions, known for its vibrant community and rich cultural heritage, has been marred by incidents of flooding that have raised serious concerns among residents and for this incident being experienced by every Filipino. Even a simple act of stepping up and concern for change is needed to start and ignite a need for change and fresh start.

We, the concerned citizens of Cavite, urge Change.org to help us in raising awareness and mobilizing support to address these pressing issues.

We demand:

Stricter Pollution Controls: Implement and enforce regulations to prevent industrial, agricultural, and residential waste from entering our waterways.

Enhanced Waste Management: Improve waste collection and disposal systems to reduce litter and pollution in waterways.

Community Education Programs: Launch initiatives to educate the public about the impact of pollution and encourage responsible waste disposal.

Restoration Projects: Invest in projects to clean and restore polluted waterways, making them safer and more sustainable.

Urban Planning Improvements: Consider the impact of urban development on waterways and implement measures to mitigate flooding.

We call upon our local and national government officials to take immediate and effective action to address the pollution in our local waterways, which is a significant contributor to the increasing flood risks in our communities.

By signing this petition, you are joining a collective effort to create a cleaner, safer environment for all. Together, we can ensure our waterways are free of pollution, reducing the risk of floods and protecting our communities.
