John Cadwallader started this petition to Councillor John Crockford Hawley (Weston super Mare Town Council)

I would like your help to have a prestigious blue plaque erected in honour of rockgod, and son of Weston super Mare, Ritchie Blackmore. Weston Town Council fund and install blue plaques dedicated to famous people who have links with Weston super Mare. These are usually installed on buildings or walls near to where the famous person lived. We have quite a few at the moment: the author Roald Dahl, Haile Selassie and General Dwight G. Eisenhower the most prestigious. Rock legend Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple, Rainbow and Blackmore's Night fame, was actually born here. So, he is a son of Weston -born in April 1945 at Allendale Nursing Home, Beach Road. I've decided to start this petition to try and get Ritchie some recognition for all the work he's done and still doing, in the world of music by attempting to get his name on a plaque. There are other names on the list who would also like a name on a plaque but some would like one dedicated to obscure local architects and or architecture (Yawn) A councillor John Crockford Hawley is the head of the committee that delegates blue plaques. I need your help in getting Ritchie's name on one. Thank you.
