Dear Board Members of the Beverly Hills Unified School District and Dr. Bregy,

We are the collective parents and guardians of children in the Beverly Hills Unified School District (TK through 12th grade).  As the people charged with taking care of our children, and ensuring their physical and emotional well-being, we want to emphatically thank you for announcing that our district will immediately align with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and the State of California in making masks optional as of March 12, 2022.  You did not waiver in making this decision and for that, we are ever so thankful.

For the last two years, we have witnessed our children, from the very young elementary school aged to pre-teens and adolescents, navigate the very uncertain events that unfolded as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.  Our children went from having a seemingly normal school life, to no longer being able to see their friends and teachers.  They learned to adapt to online learning, zoom links and breakout sessions.  They adapted to socializing with their friends on the screen rather than in person.  When school eventually re-opened, they adapted to wearing masks at all times, to weekly testing and to social distancing, all so that they could continue with in-person learning.  They even learned to pivot if they or their entire class had to go into quarantine. 

Our children have indeed been resilient, but now that we are beginning to see a light at the end of the Covid tunnel, it is time to let our children breathe. Thank you for making this happen!
