Rebecca Rogers started this petition to Frank J. Migliozzi

There is an 81 year old lady who has lived in her house in Champion for 52 years. She is very kindhearted and loves animals. For years, there has been a problem with people dumping cats in the area. (A little over a week ago someone put a mother cat and kittens on her porch during the night) Dumped cats, as we all know, always seem to know where someone who will help lives.

She has been feeding cats all her life with no problem. People (especially the older generation) were not raised with all the animal awareness we have nowadays. When she was young, no one even fixed cats much less had rules on feeding. She just wanted to help the cats.

She was given TNR of Warren's number and she contacted us for help for spay and neuter. With help, she trapped and brought 17 cats in to be fixed. TNR was partially at fault because we never asked her how she was feeding. She was leaving food down all the time and putting leftover food in the woods.

When we found out, we changed her to feeding an hour in the morning and an hour in the late afternoon and then picking all bowls up and no more throwing food in the woods. We are providing her with an outside cat box. She did not know to do any different.

She has now received three letters from the health dept. all saying the same thing. The last letter gave her a must appear hearing date. When I spoke twice to the author of the letter, Mr. Rodney Hedge, advising him of the changes she has made, his response was stop feeding the cats.

We explained that would cause starving cats roaming the neighborhood getting into the trash, killing birds, eating out of bird feeders and more. I explained the cats would remain in the area and without TNR the cats would reproduce at a tremendous rate.

We need each and everyone of you to attend this hearing on Aug. 8th at 1:30p at the Health Department 176 Chestnut NE in Warren with the Health Commissioner, Frank Migliozzi. We need to fill the parking lot, building and street. Bring signs. We need to show that we will fight for everyone they bring in. We can't let these prosecutions continue or they will be at your door next.

Thousands of people feed cats in Trumbull County alone and millions worldwide. Now the police were called today by a neighbor because they reported her house smelled, she had food dishes out and her grounds and house were a mess. The officer inspected her house and grounds and said he saw no problems. He said her home and grounds were clean, there were no dishes out, he smelled no smell and he had no idea why they called. He even gave her his number to call should her neighbors give her any more problems.
