I am a parent who recognizes that parents in rural areas and parents who chose alternative curriculums and parents with limited income should not have to face a financial hardship to get their children to school. Rural living isn’t always a choice it is often also more affordable and the affordability goes out the door when paying for your child’s ride to school and back , which may be that parents only option, is no longer an affordable option. Buses decrease congestion in school zones making school zones safer. They improve the morning and afternoon routine and schedule of coordinating school and work possible improving quality of life for families. all parents feel the struggle and pressure to get their children to and from school while also getting to work. School schedules and work schedules do not line up well and with the decreased availability of after school care bussing becomes a great resource for families. I employ the school districts to review the needs of modern life and families and recognize where the current system(s) are outdated. Tax payers pay for schools and yet they are not utilized for before and after school care which would generate income for the individual schools. Elementary schools run from 830-2/245 depending on your school, no working individual works from 9-2/3. Why would after school care not be provided in. Publicly funded building that is already set up for children?! Licensed childcare professionals take over once teachers are done for the day. Parents opt in or opt out. Done! Until this day happens, busses provide parents the extra time they need to get to and from work and decrease the horrid mess of school zone drop off pick up traffic nightmare.

The increase of 700% is ridiculous no matter what district. If an increase is required be realistic.

The increase is astronomical! I understand the need to increase the fees, but this is far too steep.

700% increase?????
Ok fine sometimes fees need adjusting. But to expect that kind of jump.
Thats horrific. Maybe look into a gradual scheduling. Example $25 -$50 2021/2022
$50-$75 2022/2023
Look into payment arrangements. Monthly or quartly. Also look at putting back some of the stops that have been removed.
In my neighbouhood, many children that would/ could use a stop. Enough to fill a good portion of seats.

I don't have any children in school and still pay taxes. I know a lot of families who can't afford to pay $300. dollars a child for a bus fee. Please find the money some where else. School is important. But not if its going to cost so much extra.

I'm signing because my kids have been taking the bus on westside rd for years and have no other way to get in to school that early. If we have to pay then they won't be catching the bus. We have 3 boys that catch the bus. Hope no one has to pay.
