$5mil spent on laptops, but GCPS still leaves teachers requesting school supplies?
Why this petition matters
If the school board for Gwinnett County Public Schools can agree to spend $5,000,000 on ChromeBooks for students, surely they can acquire the money to pay for pens, pencils, copy paper, etc. Leaving teachers requesting items on wish-lists, and hoping that caring parents will make a donation is ludicrous! Tax-payer's hard earned money is heading toward educational aid, however the ridiculous lack of purpose for the spending is fruitless. Handing out laptops to those in need is an amazing and necessary outreach, however making the majority of students switch from a higher capable computing device, to a slow and restricting one is unnecessary. This is money that can be spent on nicer desks/ chairs, pencil sharpeners, better programs for at home learning (Brilliant for example), and much more. In conclusion, GCPS needs to learn how to prioritize it's tax-dollars.
