Print journalism is important; TSL is vital to the Claremont College community; and studies have shown that people's retention is greater when reading information on paper rather than digitally

I support TSL as a Pomona alum - and having worked with the budgets of different groups funded by student governments, I know that there are clubs who have historically received far more funding than they really need (despite only being aimed at students with specific interests), while critical costs are not being covered for groups like TSL that provide services for all 5C students.

Students should have the right to express themselves through writing. It is fundamental to their success as world contributers and leaders.

I value unbiased, fact-based reporting in today's world full of fake news and alternative facts. TSL is the only news organization on the 5Cs that provides a thorough, nonpartisan coverage of news at the 5Cs and it's incredibly disappointing that 5C student governments don't recognize the importance of TSL on our campuses.

I am signing because I get most of my news from TSL and it's unfair for them to be underpaid

Over the past two years as a layout designer, TSL’s unique presence on campus as a print newspaper has been integral to my college experience. Designers learn the importance of flexibility, organization, and time management in a way no other position is able while developing our graphic design skills. My position at TSL as a designer would be erased if TSL were unable to print, and the community would lose the beloved print version of TSL.

It's a great source for news on and off campus
