Thousands of local school-age students are anticipating returning full-time to their schools next week after 1 1/2 years.  There are people who do not want to see this happen.  The Coronavirus will unfortunately be with us for the foreseeable future and precautions are being followed to help keep students safe.  Teachers have had the opportunity to be vaccinated and many kids over 12 have been as well.  4J has provided families with on-line options if a family isn't willing to accept the risk.  Risk averse families shouldn't dictate the decisions of our district.  They do not have to send their kids back to school if they fear for their safety.  Many families fear that continued lack of a proper education is a bigger risk to their students.  Businesses are open, movie theaters are open, shopping malls are filled with people, restaurants are open to full capacity, and the Ducks have their first game this weekend with spectators; if all of these can be open our students deserve to start school in-person and on-time.

During the School Board meeting this week, two Doctors supported the return to school, one even has two students under 12 who will be returning to school.  It was also stated that the current wave of infections appears to be trending down.

School districts around the state have already started and millions of students are back on campus across the US, many with much fewer safety measures in place.  Our students deserve to be back on campus as well.

Tell the 4J Board that you want to see our student return to in-person school next week.
