Milpitas is growing, the city needs to upgrade adequate traffic measures for the safety of the community, especially at a school location.

We the community of Milpitas who live, travel and work are very concern about the safety of the people passing this intersection.

We are requesting for a 4-way stop sign at the intersection Fanyon St and Kennedy Dr right where William Burnett Elementary School is located.

This is the main intersection where the families, children, and staffs pass to get to  and from SCHOOL, whether it's by walking or driving . Currently, there are only 2 stop signs on Fanyon St, but there are no stop signs on Kennedy Dr, which means, the cars on Kennedy Dr do not need to stop.

Even with the presence of a crossing guard, it is still very dangerous.  We need the cars on Kennedy Dr to come to a full stop, in order to insure the safety for the crossing guard and our children.

Fanyon St is often congested with cars backed up all the way into the drop off lot at Burnett because they can not turn on Kennedy Dr with the continuous cars passing. Sometimes in order to beat incoming traffic , the cars on Fanyon St make very aggressive turns on Kennedy Dr in order to leave the school.

There are ample reports of traffic congestions and unsafe traffic environment at this intersection, yet no stop signs have been installed on Kennedy Dr.  That street is too long.  It is time to put stop signs on Kennedy Dr to slow down traffic and further reinforcing school zone speed limit.

This petition, signed by community members , parents, and staff who work at or near Burnett Elementary School hereby requests:
