Healthcare staff are at critically low levels in both public AND private facilities. During the pandemic lockdowns the private hospitals were undertaking  the public waiting lists while no operating was done in the public hospitals.
The private hospitals help maintain a manageable public healthcare system.
It was announced that healthcare workers were to receive a $3000 bonus for their hard continued hard work and to retain staff, but this is only for public hospital healthcare workers - which indicates that the government doesn’t acknowledge the hard work of all private healthcare workers
