Avery Boose started this petition to 204 school board

Dress codes often arises issues and questions the schools interest in what they are trying to achieve. As a high schooler, I notice a maturity in the way people hold themselves. I think it is very important and necessary that the school not only allows, but appreciates the uniquness and creativity the students bring into the school.

Not only do I think the dress code limits expressive opportunities within young individuals who are trying to discovever themselves, but also specifically targets women especially over men. Men can wear ripped jeans, but if girls wear it, they are criticized for showing too much of their legs. They are criticized and also judged. I know this because many classrooms I walked into wearing ripped jeans, teachers ocmmented on how much I paid for "half jeans" or questioning why I wear what I do. I do not think anybody should have a say over what you wesr because we are all born equal and given human rights.

What gives the school power to tell us how to dress? Dressing oursleves is a way of comfort and self love towards our humans bodies.

I want change and for school boards to be open minded on how they can start to encourage individualism.
