This petition is an attempt to overcome the barriers that my fellow students and myself face with the high cost of traveling on public trains. The London train services on average (even with the 30% discount) equates to my parents having to support me financially to the sum of £30+ per week; which is a total of £120 per month.

The government want to give young people the opportunity to make choices with regards to their education and employability opportunities, but this young peoples tax hinders and restricts many young peoples options, as they are limited to only enrolling at local educational establishments as many parents struggle and cannot supplement their children's transport requirements.

By having a free travel on both buses, trains, and trams in London, this would enable young people to have a choice and extend their capital experiences across the diverse, culturally-enriched and economically vibrant city.
