Save the Pine-Richland School District Music Program

Pine-Richland has proposed cuts that would eliminate music teachers, cut 4th grade instruments and ensembles (instrumental lessons, band, chorus, and orchestra), at the high school cut all non-ensemble music electives like harmony and theory, and shorten the amount of general music instruction for other grades. General music has already been eliminated for grades 7 and 8. These cuts must be stopped in order to provide a well-rounded education to all PRSD students.

Letter to
2012 Pine-Richland School Board
I just signed the following petition addressed to: 2012 Pine-Richland School Board.

In support of the Pine-Richland Music Department Mission Statement, music is a basic expression of human culture; therefore it must be included in the curriculum so that every student may participate more fully in the human experience. The curriculum must provide all students with a balanced, comprehensive and sequential program of study in musical education for today's world. This includes early education, exposure to varied modes and expressions of music, and rounded facets of not just instrumentation, but music's very building blocks such as harmony and theory.

Please sign this petition to show your support for keeping these programs alive at PRSD, and to ensure that future students can continue to benefit from its instruction.
