The government gave the councils power to charge 200% council tax on unoccupied properties . This was to make sure properties would not stand empty and to be available for people to buy or rent out . However I feel this affecting people that are trying hard to finish their forever homes , they are normal working people ,i have been affected by this , our council tax is going for £137 to £375 per month , at a time that the cost of living is raising dramatically .I feel this policy needs to be reconsidered as if it’s going to be your forever home you should be giving a deadline to finish or face the higher tax .Please help me make this change! When I spoke to the council , they confirmed there are lots of people in this situation . Their property will never be rented or sold , therefore this policy shouldn’t apply to them ! Help make this fair !!!!
