I recently have had to drop another hour at work due the rise in wages, as the carers allowance work allowance doesn't rise at the same rate.

Anyone on carers allowance can only earn £132 a week, that's 13.5 hours a week on minimum wage, we can't even get a 16 hour a week job.

Now some people reading this may ask, why don't you just drop carers allowance and work more hours. It's not that simple. Unfortunately due to being a full time carer I don't have the energy to work more hours, my child who I care for doesn't sleep well and most nights I get only a few hours sleep. Plus even if I did drop carers and work more, I would still be caring for my child just not getting paid to do so.

Now I am fully thankful that I work for a company that are so understanding and accommodating when it comes to me having to drop another hour ( happens every year with the rise of wages ) but unfortunately I know there are people who have had to lose their jobs due their bosses not being so understanding. Yet the government want us to work as well as being a carer but how many jobs do you know that are part time and less than 16 hours a week, there aren't many.

All I am asking is that the government raise the carers allowance working allowance to be able to work 16 hours a week and this to rise every rise in accordance.

Like I said currently we can only earn £132 a week i would like it to rise so we can earn atleast £152 a week.
