As part of the #16Days Against Gender-Based Violence initiative, we the signatory would like to protest against the following points:

1.     Due to the atrocities committed in Tigray and the widespread and systematic Gender Based Violence (GBV) that has happened many have been left with significant trauma. Numerous organizations and persons have been trying to provide much needed medical, psychosocial and humanitarian support to our sisters. The GBV survivors have been unable to receive the help they desperately need from governmental, non-governmental and other bodies wishing to work to improve their situation because of the blockade on the region. With this petition, we are protesting against the blockade that has prolonged their suffering, denied them their rights to health services, information and worsened their overall living condition.

2.     The report published under the title “Report of the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC)/Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Joint Investigation into Alleged Violations of International Human Rights, Humanitarian and Refugee Law Committed by all Parties” is completely biased and misrepresents the depth, extent and severity of the GBV atrocities performed against Tigrian civilians. Therefore, we would like to protest and cry out that this injustice does not hold with the principles under which the UN was established and is deemed to uphold. It is in fact shameful that the UN disregarded an entire ethnic groups’ needs and rights when claiming to investigate the atrocities performed against them.
