Railroad workers are the bloodline of this economy. And they should be treated as such. Railroad workers have one of the worst or if not the worst attendance policy in all industries in this nation. These workers deserve to be able to take care of their families and themselves in emergency situations without being at risk of losing their jobs. Railroad workers should have paid bereavement time, paid sick time, along mandatory rest time. The federal government created the RLA because the railways ties in with national security and when enacted makes it mandatory for railroad workers to go to work. So the federal government has the power and responsibility to ensure the workers have a decent quality of life.
