We the under sign are requesting that the City Council reject the second request from HOW for funds from CDBG for their project at 2215 Dempster and 1305 Pitner; we require HOW to give disclosure of the reason for them revisiting the DAPR committee and NO permit is to be issue to HOW until three community meeting have occurred.
Fact 1: The How project is not in alignment with the neighborhood according to R5 zoning outlined by city of Evanston Zoning Ordinance 6-8-5,6-8-6, 6-8-7,6-8-8.
Fact 2: The neighbors have not received full disclosure on the project from the City and How's representatives.
Fact 3: The City gave How the stamp of approval weeks before the neighbors were even notified.
Fact 4: The city citied mailing issues as to why people with 500 feet weren’t notified. Fact 5: This is a continued practice of the City by placing affordable and public supportive housing in the 5th, 8th and 2nd wards specifically in areas where blacks, latinos and the poor live. This is practice by the city is a continued violation of the Fair Housing Act.
Fact 6: The city receives every year CDBG Funds, Home Funds And McKinley Funds from the federal government. Yet they haven’t practiced placing affordable and supportive housing in the community.
