Petition update

BCRY / Cando "will not move forward" with site plan application.

Lisa Hafner

Apr 3, 2018 — Good morning.
Just a quick update to everyone who has shown interest in this issue. This week's edition of the Alliston Herald has published an article titled "Rail Yard Project Stalls" (pg 9 of the 29/03/18 edition), which states that "CANDO Rail Services determined it will not move forward with a site plan application for a fuel transfer terminal at the rail yard" and that "Essa Township residents have overwhelmingly opposed the proposal." A link to the article can be found here:

Additionally, another article recently published on suggests that the 'abandoned' rail line may more likely be re-purposed into a Collingwood-Barrie multi use trail. This seems like a much more sensible and inviting community and environmentally friendly use for the rail line which is already used as an official trail system in the Collingwood area and unofficially as a trail in Angus.
See the article here:

Thanks to everyone who has helped oppose this unwanted fuel transfer station. The site was clearly not appropriate or wanted in the area and it seems like our voices were heard. All the best to everyone and thanks again for your support!
