Because thhe urban tree cover is dimishing and all that will be left is a concrete jungle. If you are going to intensify housing you need to cater for green places for people to enjoy the outdoors . Bird life and terrestial invertabrattes require this.. Developers will always say that they are providing housing but their primary interest is always the wedge in their back pocket first and foremost.

These greedy developers must be stopped... please do not let them continue to strip the environment of its natural state... home to the birds and other precious creatures... NO TO THE GREED OF DEVELOPERS and LOCAL COUNCILS

Trees give us life so we should give them life too. They are precious, we have destroyed too many already all for the sake of greed and $$$. Incorporate the trees in development don't cut them down.

The Councils own VISION includes "Auckland's outstanding environment" - "protecting our native species from pests, predators" - humans most predatory of all - I want a GREEN Auckland, that is kiwi - not a heartless, soulless, sterile concrete cookie cutter city

Totally opposed to the felling of Auckland's large, mature and irreplaceable urban trees for the sake of so-called commercial progress. It's particularly heinous when our large native trees are cut down. Stronger urban tree protection regulations need to be brought back. If NZ is really serious about addressing climate change then our towns and cities must keep their trees so vital for absorbing carbon dioxide, keeping the city environment, largely covered in concrete and tarseal, cool and a home for our urban birds and other biodiversity.

Stop giving in to the developers and letting them destroy our cities by turning them into slums filled with tiny, cheap, shoeboxes just so they can make a quick dollar by tricking people into thinking its a good affordable deal. Save the bloody trees and nature and stop letting money and greed win.
