خيار انتخاب الرئيس من الشعب سيؤدي لأن يكون للبنانيين ولأول مرّة رئيس "صنع في لبنان واللبنانيين" ويعبّر عن خيارات هذا الشعب الجميل وتوجهاته. على أن يحصل ذلك على دورتين يترشح المؤهلون إلى الدورة الأولى فيصوّت الشعب ليتأهل اثنين من أكثر مرشحين نالا الأصوات إلى الدورة الثانية ويختار الشعب الناخب من بينهما بالأكثرية . وبذلك ينتهي لبنان من السيناريو المتكرر الذي يترك كرسي بعبدا فارغًا لسنوات ريثما تجد القوى السياسية ما تتحاصص وتتفق عليه. 

من هذا المنطلق، فإنّ اختيار رئيس جمهورية من الشعب كما يحصل في الكثير من الدول المتقدمة والقوية اقتصاديًا قد يتيح للمواطنين التعبير صراحةً عن موقفهم طالما أنهم حرموا من ذلك في الانتخابات النيابية. 

هذه الخطوة ستمنع حتمًا الممسكين في اللّعبة السياسية والذين هم أصلًا أصحاب رؤوس الأموال الكبيرة من التحكم في حياة المواطنين وأخذهم رهينة عبر اختيار أسماء لرئاسة الجمهورية تناسبهم وتحقق مصالحهم الشخصية ما يدمر البلد أكثر ويمنعه من النهوض. 

وعلى عكس ما يروّج له البعض، فإنّ موافقة مجلس النواب سيسمح بانتخاب رئيس جديد من الشعب سريعًا وسيوفر على لبنان فترة طويلة من الانتظار والفراغ الرئاسي مع ما يكبده ذلك للبلد من خسائر اقتصادية كبيرة. كما أنّ لبنان سينجو من مؤتمر تأسيسي جديد أو "طائف" آخر. 

مع التذكير بأنّ هذا الخيار من شأنه أيضًا أنّ يجنب البلد الوقوع في فخ المؤتمرات الدولية التي تعمل على تقسيم النفوذ بين اللّبنانيين في الشكل أمّا في المضمون فهي استغلال لثروات المواطنين والدولة وضمان نفوذ الدول الخارجية على أرض بيروت

أثبتت الأزمة الاقتصادية والسياسية أنّ لبنان غير قادر على الاستمرار بهذا النظام القائم خاصة أنّ جميع من فيه يسيرونه وفقًا لمصالح وأجندات خاصة مع الإشارة إلى أنّ الأنظمة البرلمانية حول العالم أثبتت فشلها وتداعت أصلًا ووحده لبنان بالإضافة إلى دول قليلة ما زالوا يعتمدون عليه.

أنا عمر حرفوش، صاحب مبادرة استعادة الأموال المنهوبة أطرح مبادرتي هذه لتجنيب لبنان المزيد من الانهيارات. 

هل توافقون على هذا الاقتراح؟ 

The choice of electing the president by « Universal Suffrage » the people will lead to having for the first time a president who is “made in Lebanon and by the Lebanese people ” and expresses the choices and orientations of this beautiful people. This takes place in two rounds, the eligible candidates run for the first round, and the people vote so that two of the candidates who received the most votes qualify for the second round, and the electing people choose from among them by the majority. Thus, Lebanon ends the recurring scenario that leaves the Baabda’s presidential chair empty for years, waiting the political forces for each to determine their shares of interest and agree upon them.

Choosing a president from the people and elected by them, as happens in many developed and economically powerful countries, may allow citizens to express their position as they were denied this right in the parliamentary elections.

This step will inevitably prevent those caught up in the political game, who are already the owners of large capital, from controlling the lives of people and taking them hostage by choosing names for the presidency of the republic that only suits them to achieve their personal interests, which is constantly destroying the country and preventing it from rising.

Contrary to what some are promoting, the parliament’s approval will allow the people to quickly elect a new president which will save Lebanon the long period of waiting that can devastate the country’s economy. This will also save Lebanon from a new founding conference or another "Taif".

Not to forget that this option would also keep the country away from falling into the trap of international conferences that divide the influence between the Lebanese in form, but in substance, its goal is to exploit the wealth of the citizens and the state and ensuring the influence of foreign countries on the land of Beirut

The economic and political crisis has proven that Lebanon is unable to continue with this existing system, especially since everyone in it is running it according to their special interests and agendas, noting that parliamentary systems around the world have proven their failure and collapsed in the first place, and only Lebanon and few countries still depend on it.
